Exclamation reset used edge evo

My son gave me his evo out of his 2005 5.4 when he traded it off. I am trying to out it in my 2004 5.4 and it gives an error thst the hex codes dont match. He didn't reset it to 0 before he removrd it. How can I move forward and reset the unit to to proper state for me to use?

You are going to have to call Edge and see if they will unlock it for you. It still has the tune from your son's truck on it and will work on that truck only.

you will have to contact edge, pay for them to unlock it, and then you will be able to use it on your truck.

Or even better, send it to Power Hungry Performance, get it converted to a Gryphon and get custom tunes!

I agree that he can do this but PHP will still charge an unlock fee.

Does Edge not charge $75? I thought they did.

Yes.
I was implying that IF it was sent to PHP for the upgrade that the unlock fee is NOT waved. It will be in addition to the usual upgrade fee.
But PHP has to charge an unlock fee also before they do the upgrade.
If PHP has to unlock it then they'll send it back with canned tunes on it so the customer can get them the hex code.
So Bill can write the custom tunes.

I have to assume you've considered this, but sometimes...

Is the truck still at the dealership? If so, perhaps you can talk to them about quickly hooking up the programmer and resetting it.

would there be a problem if the dealership flashed the pcm and set it back to stock and then the edge was hooked up to set it to stock?

Only if the Edge did not contain the new strategy that had been entered into the PCM.
