Belt squeal on Transmission shift

With my edge evo on level 3, when my transmission shifts during hard acceleration I hear a belt squeal type noise. What is that all about. Is that actually my belt squealing or is that a sign of transmission trouble?

its the belt chirping not the trans.....the best way to get rid of that is to get the goodyear gatorback belt...it doesnt slip like the factory one does.

How easy to replace the belt? Does it need to go into the shop?

You can do it.
Alls you need is a 3/8 rachet preferably with a long handle to put tension on the tensioner pulley to loosen up the old belt.
Follow the routing diagram on the radiator shroud.
You just need the rachette and NO sockets. The rachette drive goes into the square hole.

Just look it up in the parts catalog for your year and options.
