I recently bought and installed the new edge evoltion cts. I have a 2007 FX4. I updated it when I installed it. Do I need to do this once a week, a month, a year. Or whenever i feel like.

 

If it aint broke... don't fix it

 

Not saying its broken or anything, but is not like a pc. every now and then your computer wants to download updates, from lets say HP. So the system is simply up to date.

 

I know... many users have issues when the update... I wouldn't update it.

 

If you wouldn't mind elaborating on the type of issuse. I would never have thought there would be any, except for you re-writting a program to the trucks pcm. Does the more times you switch levels on your edge to your truck and installing updates have minor complications and or quirks or problems that can bend you over?

 

wacki - if your Edge is working fine, then don't update it.

The updates don't change the canned tunes; they only update the firmware.

Search this board and you will see quite a few posts about the Edge (or truck) not working after an update.

Truckguy is dead on - if it ain't broke, leave it alone.

 

What would some of the problems that let you know your edge is not working. EX. For some reason it cant initilize during start up or wont go into level 3 mode?

 

I tried to update to possibly fix a code issue and there was never an update available over a 6 month span. Again, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
