To buy, or not to buy

Need some input as to whether or not to buy a programmer.

Just purchased an '08 Fx4 supercrew (5.4). I pull a 17.5' boat almost every weekend. To the best of calculations, I believe the boat, motor, trailer, gear, and 38 gallons of fuel run around 3000#.

I am wondering if I really need to purchase a programmer? Can I justify purchasing one - would I gain that much from it? I don't think the truck will have a problem pulling this boat as it really isn't that heavy. I viewed some threads on what others are pulling and this boat doesn't compare. Some of those trailers are heavy - I think I would purchase a programmer for those.

Very inexperienced with programmers. From what I have read in the threads, however, is that I would go with the Gryphon. The truck is currently stock, and I really have no plans to make modifications. With that being said though, I wouldn't rule out mods in the future, however insignificant as they are. And with the Gryphon, I would be set up if I did make some mods.

Any and all thoughts would be very much appreciated.

I have an 09 5.4L that I plan on keeping completely stock (engine and exhaust), but I will purchase an Edge/Gryphon CTS as soon as Bill gets back from Utah and PHP releases them.

Why? Simply for the throttle response and firmer shifts (plus having the real time TFT display).

For sure worth it but your truck will do fine pulling the boat without it.
