Edge Evo with Mods, it that Okay?

Hi, I have a 05 XLT with 5.4L and i was wondering if it's a bad idea to buy and Edge Evo. chip even though I have AFe CAI and Magna-flow exhaust? I have been hearing that the pre-loaded tunes in programmers aren't meant to be used this exhaust, CAI, etc. Is this true, or will I still gain similar power increase as the chip are supposed too? I don't really want to get a chip with custom tunes because that seems like it can be risky and complicated. Any insight on this would be really appreciated...

First, the exhaust creates no problem. The Edge clearly states that it is for a stock intake. You run the risk of running lean without a custom tune. There is no danger with a custom tune from a reputable tuner. They are by far the best choice. I have 37,000 miles with custom tunes after running an Edge canned tune for 31,000 miles.

as far as i know the only "canned" tuner that supports CAIs is the diablo as it has pre loaded tunes for with or without a CAI. other then that custom tunes are recomended to prevent running lean and get the most gains.

Okay where are you able to get custom tunes, and what brand of programmer supports them?

The most popular tuners on this site are Xcal3 from VMP, Troyer or PHP and the Gryphon from PHP. YOu alrady have the Edge, you can send it to PHP, get it converted to the Gryphon and they will write the tunes you want.

Converting to the Gryphon will cost you the least and they are great tunes.

The upgrade through PHP would be the cheapest option.
