hi. i live in Erie Pennsylvania. does anyone know where i can get my truck dynoed that is pretty close? i am not looking to drive 100 miles. if it is pretty close, i might do it. i have heard of one around here but i wanna wait until the power robbing winter mixed gas goes away. plus i dont wanna pay a whole lot. i think the possible one here is like $50 or so from what ive been told. any help i would appreciate

I trust you are well. You are not that far from me, I see ( Ontario). I love the Erie area and travle there when I can.
On to yer request: I have heard this place is reputable; it is a bit of a drive though, but Buffalo & the Falls area does have good chicken wings

The other option is to use SCT's Dealer locator to find a shop closer to you - then call or visit some of them to get a feel for their expertise...

It's important to ask if they are fully conversant with the unique tuning needs of a truck - F150's. Tuning expertise for 'stangs does not always translate well to trucks. Troyer Performance & VMP being exceptional at both is not typical. Ask for references, if possible. See if they offer dyno days and hang if so. Cost (to me) is of secondary importance - tuning excellence and safe sustainable power is key. As is after-purchase support.
I hope I've not inconvenienced you by responding to your post, or otherwise abraded you in any way. Please feel free to ignore my response if that is the case.

i think all he is looking to do is get it dynoed. he didnt mention dyno tuned that i saw. but that would be awesome and probably cost more. im curious on how much dyno tuned would be.
i paid $50 for 3 runs and got the average. we did it as a group though. he normally charges $75 for an individual to run 3 pulls.

yeah, sorry for not including that...it is for the dyno numbers only. not tuning.

well actually my friend has been wanting to take a road trip and he likes cars and trucks too(of course lol) and he has an 04 chevy silverado 4.8L we race and mess around all the time with our trucks. it would be interesting to see what my 4.2L puts to the ground and what his 4.8L puts down. maybe a dyno day could be worth it. take a vacation/raod trip, get truck dynoed and watch all the trucks get dynoed. im curious about what certain engines put to the ground. i have heard the 4.2L puts about 165 to the ground, but with my 1/4 time i did an online calculator that does 1/4 time compared to weight of vehicle=+ driver and it said 186hp or something around there. so i am curious to see what it really is.
also just a question...does it matter what gear you put it in? i have seen people use 1st and 2nd and also seen 3rd and 4th used on more powerful engines. just wondering why. guessing it has something to do with having to be in the gear for so long so the computer can actually read the results? if anyone knows i would appreciate it.
your best bet would be to call a performance shop in your area. They can tell you the closest place near you.
I just went to dynojets website and plugged in a zip code in Erie, Pennsylvania and there is one 23 miles from you. Here is the link so you can type in your zip http://www.dynojet.com/dyno_centers/...utomotive.aspx. Keep in mind that this is just for dynojets (most popular). You can try searching for mustang dynos, and dynapacks as well. Goodluck

For what its worth there is a shop somewhere in Eastern Pa. not more than 50 miles or so from Youngstown Oh.where I attended a dyno day many years ago that some Lightning and Cobra owners from that area had put together.
I believe it was something like Stroubes, or Stroubles. They ran a decent shop and did A/F's for a fair price. Sorry I can't remember any more than that.

so i would HAVE to use 4th gear??? or can they figure it out by dividing by the ratio or something? just wondering because i am sure all cars dont have a 1:1 ratio out of their gears. especially the people who change their rear end. so would it be able to figure it out in 2nd or 3rd if i got the ratio info?
