SO last week for Christmas I ordered a SF3 through my mom’s company rewards. So today I opened the box and the sticker on the back of the packaging said SF3 but when I looked at the front of it I saw it was an X3 tuner and not an SF3. From what I have head the X3's are way better but when I plugged it in to my computer (windows based) it failed to recognize the device and said it wasn’t real. Your advice is much appreciated.

Go to SCT's web site and download them.
Might as well grab all the application software while you are at it...

BTW - Did you peruse the tuner stickies yet?
Good luck.

But - if the OP was just wanting to play with the unit connected to the pc, it should not matter if it was 'empty'. I just hope he wasn't expecting to apply SF3 preload updates to the X3 (not possible)
