Gryphon Custom Tune Question

I already have a gryphon, but I am planning on putting exhaust & a CAI in the next couple of months. I am putting on a 11" body Magnaflow muffler, & a S&B CAI. So my question is do I need to send off my gryphon now and get Bill to give me a custom tune, or can I do it after I get my upgrades? I don't want to risk the possibility of running lean if I do it after.

So what is the process, and anyone thinking about getting a programmer get a Gryphon!!! I have had experience with Superchips & Hypertech programmers & nothing compares to the Gryphon!!!

Thanks In Advance Guys

If you've already got the Gryphon you don't need to send it anywhere. Custom tunes are downloaded via internet.

Go over to the PHP forum and make sure they have all your information and they can get you going.

Can't see what year your truck is or engine(darn mobile).
But I would order a custom tune and wait for the custom tune before putting on a CAI and run the risk of running lean(04-05 5.4 3V).
The other question is what octane are you going to run? You need to decide this.
Your exhaust mod can be done at anytime aslong as its cat back.
If already have a gryphon you won't need to send it in. Just go to www.powerhungryperformance.com click on support and fill out the gasoline calibrations order form. Save it as a pdf and email it as an attachment or print it then fax it. They will email you when its done.
Then goto support again download pegasus and load onto gryphon.
Good recomendation for you is to read through the sticky's at the top of this forum.

You have an 04 and I assume the 5.4, so I want to reinforce, no way I would put the CAI on until I had a custom tune. A cat back exhaust is only getting rid of what comes to it, so no custom tuning necessary for it.

I run an 87 performance tune and it really pepped my truck. I don't get any better milage but get almost identical to what I got with the stock tune, so I consider that a win. Lots more power and better shifting and downshifting for no extra fuel.

I would suggest discussing it with Bill. It is my understanding that there is not a lot of difference between the performance and the economy tunes. With both, you try to get the maximum efficiency out of the fuel. But, i may not know all the story. I know I am very satisfied with the performance tune. I also have a 93 Performance tune and seldom feel the need to run it. My 87 Perf is as good as Level 3 was on 93 octane.
