edge on a 99' F150

I've been thinking about getting an edge evo but I have a few guestions first.

It seems like a lot of the post I've read about how great they are, are from owners of 04' and up trucks, and I was wondering it the same gains would be seen on a 99' F150.

Second, I had my trany rebuilt about 5000 miles ago and the shop that did it drasticaly improved the shifting by doing some modifications to the valve body. If it shifts too hard with one of the tunes can I take some of the shift firmness out of the tune or do I have to hope that it dosen't ruin the trany.

Third, One of my biggest complaints is with the TC and the fact that it locks and unlocks any time you slightly get out of the gas. I understand that ford designed it to do so, but I find it extreamly annoying and it can't be that good for the gas milage. Will the edge modify the TC locking and unlocking on my year of truck to eliminate some of the unneeded unlocking and locking?

My final guestion is I have a CAI and a after cat exhaust would the canned tunes work alright or sould I just suck it up and get a gryphon with a custom tune or two.
I do a lot of highway driving for my job so any mpg increase would be a added blessing (to be honest thats one of the reason I've considered getting a tuner in the first place).

Thanks in advance,
Paul

I guess my main question is about the torque converter function. I would love it if the edge would modify that. Just havn't read anything that says it does that.

The performance part of it would be nice but I'm kinda sceptical about it. I have a predator for my wifes mustang, and to be honest I wasn't realy impressed.
It did take about 2 tenths of at the dragstrip but as far as driveability and seat of the pants feel I wasn't impressed.
Not sure If I realy want to spend $400 on a programer and be diapointed like I was with the predator.

Thats what I'm afaid of, and to spend $$$ on a programer that might resolve my TC issues....well I'm not sure its worth it.
I'm realy happy with how the truck shifts while going up through the gears its just the whole locking and unlocking of the TC that I'd like to fix.

Fordracing, do you have or have used any kind of tuner on your truck?
