1-2 hear shifts hard

I have a evo and when I put it in option 2 the truck will shift hard in 1st and 2st gear. I've tried -1 all the way to -5 and it will still shift hard in 1-2. What do I need to do? I have a 08 f150 with the 5.4 and 3.73LS

it is perfectly fine, nothing is wrong, thats what it's supposed to do. however i do also think it can be alittle overkill but nothing wrong with that.

Well its not the fact that it wont hurt anything. Its the fact that I don't want the truck jerking me around when it shifts from 1st to second. It's not a very comfy drive.

Hard, firm shifts are part of tuning. that is what most of us are seeking when we purchase one. If it isn't what you want, return to the stock tune and sell it.

So most people want it to throw u through the dash?

I guess I'll return it to stock and see how it does when I hook the RV to the truck. If it doesn't bother me to much pulling it I guess I may keep it.

Have you tried Level 3?

No, cause I don't have the money to fill my truck up with 93 octane.

wait until your low fuel light comes on and put a 1/4 tank in, also with the tune 93 octane pays for itself, you will get better gas mileage, and more power, so it pays for the extra 20-30cents per gallon. just my .02

I have been running 94 octane on a Gryphon level 3 with a few tweeks and I will never go back to stock if I can help it. Right now my mileage is about the same but that is with more power, better shifting, and better response. Once I can keep my foot out of it my mileage will get better.

Level 3 has much better drivability imo. I agree that level 2 without a trailer is a bit harsh.

I seem to remember someone saying they programed their truck to level 3 and retarded the timing for 87 octane in the custom settings. I don't know if level 3 on the Edge Evo is for 93 or 91 octane but it is .5 per octane rating difference.

91 to 87 is -2
93 to 87 is -3

A few have retarded the timeing that way but guys writing the programs have explained that is really not a good thing. There are other differences besides just timing. Level 3 is written for 91 octane, so if you run 93, you need to bump it +1.0

I ran level 3 for 30,000 miles and I got enough better mpg(about 11%) over level 2 to cover the difference in cost. Level 2 is good for towing and if all your driving is stop and go. It is weak in the upper rpms out on the highway.

I didn't want rock hard shifts either. It is a truck I tow with and not a Mustang. I bought my tuner for the extra HP and Torque it could provide. Drop your 1-2 shifts down to -10 and see how you like that.

If all the shifts are not too hard and it is just your 1-2 shift your tuner may be inflating an exhisting problem. If your truck has a few miles on it your 1-2 accumulator spring in your transmission may be busted. Did it shift pretty hard before your tuner?

Well I hooked up the 30 foot RV this weekend and I filled the truck with 89 and set it the level 2. 1st gear shifts perfect it gives me more off the line power and Torque to get that 7600 Pound RV a rolling. 2st gear still shifts alittle hard but it only does it when I have to get down into it when we are going up a hill.
