engine swap

I have a 2000 f-150 4x4 7700 GRW 5.4 with 10.25 rear end 3.73 gears Engine has ben knocking for 40000 miles mite be a rist pin, anyway what would be a good EASY swap for a engine. I do a lot of towing , would a 05 or 06 3v work or a lightning work better thanks Phil

the 3 valve is going to be alot more work than a simple bolt in, why don't you look into a 2 valve 6.8 V-10 swap since you tow alot

There is a guy in Texas that sells adjustable cam gears for the 3v that disables the vct, he also has versions that allow a 3v engine to be put in a vehicle that originally had a 2v.

Get a set of those sprockets and a 2v to 3v swap is practically a bolt in, then he just needs a tune for the 3v w/o vct.

IDK what size injectors the old 2v 5.4's had but the 3v 5.4's have #24's, whoever writes your tune will need that info.

the 2 valves had 19#ers and the Throttle body needs an adapter from what I've seen


01roush is still working on his 3 valve swap

I forgot about the drive by wire TB on the 3v's

plus the 3 valve oil pan will not clear the frame so he'd have to use his old pan and pickup tube

thanks maybe just rebuild my 5.4 and re do the comp

i have pi heads now, but i just found a 1999 lighting engine with trany Cant use trany i have a 4x4. will this work, I see it is 360 hp i think mine is over 300 is it worth it $ 2500 with 70000 miles

yours was 260 at the flywheel




yes the motor will bolt directly into your truck that with some additional bolt on's and you'll be all set, check out the supercharger/turbo charger threads and you'll see all kinds of links to MAD enterprise he's specalises in helping people make the swap
