Of course you can, but "do you want to run it safely" is the real question.

its a brand new motor just replaced it just a couple thousand and idk i was told like a 50 shot or 75 might work but i could be playing russian roulete everytime i push the button.
i know the basics so to speak but what do you mean by "do i want to run it safely" ???

A 50-75 shot is reasonable, a 100-150 would be like engine death in a pressurized bottle. Also the way it's set up, wet or dry. One is safer than the other.

you can run a 200 shot on it and it probably wouldn't be safe

you could run a 50-75 shot without a tune and not be safe

who's doing your tuning????

do you have a PI or NPI motor? what do you mean by brand new? what mods do you have now? what are you going to do to help the transmission? what gears tires size etc?

we'll start there and work our way up

the motor is a brand new factory crate and its is completely stock same as the gears and transmission. tires are 33 bfg on 16.5x12.50. about to upgrade to 37 swampers though. i have 2 16inch fans, 170 degree thremostat, KN airintake, navigator water pump, and an edge dash pod. and i am still trying to find somone to tune it really need some ideas for the nitrous and getting tune!

stock gears were offered in several different ratios so we're still needing the gears (check your door tag and post the axle code, we'll do the rest)

what are you going to do to your transmission???? is it manual or automatic???

PHP can turn your edge into a gryphon so you can be custom tuned, make sure you get a progressive switch, upgrade your fuel pump (to a 255lph at the bare minimum)

you'll need a valve body or seperator plate at the very minimum

gears are probably going to be needed as you've got huge tires for your gears, and while you're at it grab a 90mm MAf off of a lightning, harley or cobra

3.55's on 37's has got to be miserable. You swap those out for 4.56's before nitrous.

i wouldn't go more than a 50 shot on a stock bottom end. if it was a built bottom end then you could go higher. with your truck being a 98 you will have to get a custom tune done..the hand held ones do nothing for the 97-98 trucks..gears will be a must with 37s or your tranny will give fast than you can push the nitrous button. also as for the tranny when you get it tuned just get your tuner to increase your line pressure and firm up your shifts..i don't really see the need for the valve body..not says it wouldn't help..also i would go back to the stock thermostat 190 i think. your going to want some copper plugs.
