just another tuner question...

Will an edge evolution work on a 4.6 ecu from my old engine, and tune out my 5.4 just as if i had the 5.4 ecu in instead? I dont really want to pay the dealer 150 bucks to reprogram the 5.4 ecu to because of the security system.

i have a 2002 5.4 and matching trans in my 99 that used to have a 4.6 and the security feature on the 5.4s ecu wont allow me to even turn the key. And at the same time i need a tune. So im trying to figure out if i can tune my 4.6 ecu that will tune my 5.4 the way it should be, being that the 4.6 and 5.4 have different stall speeds shift points and fuel delivery i believe, im trying to get the edge evolution.

you have to have the ECM programmed to communicate with the dash hence the no start status, remember we went over this in your swap thread

it'll probably be cheaper to have your 4.6 custom tuned than to have the 5.4 ecm reprogrammed to your truck

so just get the gryphon and have Bill from php custom tune it for meh? Thats what i wanted to do. Yes i remember that, but i get no gains from getting the ecu repogrammed. I guess i was just wondering if i have to do both or just get the tuner.

^^^They are currently not tuning for 97-03s, basically they are not tuning the 2v.

that is 100% untrue

Bill is just not offereing the gryphon for the '97-'03 trucks, he is offering the xcal3 instead, the gryphon was proven to be defective for the '97-'03

an xcal 3 or a used xcal2 with a custom tune is your only option right now besides a diablo or sniper tune

EITHER WAY YOU MUST HAVE A CUSTOM TUNE TO GET YOUR 4.6 ECM TO WORK or youmust send the 5.4 ECM to ford to have them reprogram it to work with your truck electronics without a fail start so it'll be cheaper to get eh custom tune for your factory ecm and sell the 5.4 ecm to some sucker on eaby

It's not the gryphon that's bad it's the CABLE that EDGE supplies that is bad.
Yes they have the xcal3 and also a 6 position switch on the fly chip.

I am sorry to say NO!
Not until PHP resolves the cable issue with edge and until that time no gryphons or edge upgrades/conversions are being done.
They still offer the xcal3 and a multi- position chip.

Convert it to Gryphon, and see if Bill can disable the PATS switches for you.
