This might not be a good thing?

I was thinking bout getting a troyer x3, but when i read the spot to search for my code, my truck does not have the sticker or any thing stamped where it should be according to troyer, any ideas on where it could be.
1997 4.6 4wd F-150, only thing i can think of is that being it is a mark 3 the sticker might have been removed at there modification shop.
Thanx

Im sure if its anything like VMP, you just leave that part blank until you actually get your programmer, plug it up, and check the hex code with the programmer, then send it in so he can start on the tunes.

I'd call Troyer and ask em, Im sure they either know where its at, or would just advise you to do something similar.

You can remove the kick panel on the passengers side by removing just a few screws, which will allow you to look on the ECU which is mounted on the sidewall of the cab directly under the kick panel. There is a tag on the ECu with the code on it. The ECU will be the metalic box has a wiring harness attahed from the bottom. It is very easy to access and remove.

Just curious?
If the unit was ever reflashed does the tech change the sicker on the unit? Or are ECU's different than PCM's? Or one in the same?

They are supposed to, but don't always. I had to ask them for it when mine was reflashed.

That's what I thought! and that's why I brought up those questions.

So "the" best way to get a hex code is from a dealer or your programmer.

Yes, because it has been fairly common to reflash these trucks, as they had several TSBs for it.

My dealer wouldn't even give me the PCM code when I asked for it. Luckily my truck had never been reflashed.
