Edge + CAI= Problems for anyone?

Hi all looking to get a edge evo for my 03 f150 4.6 4x4. Since PHP isn't selling the gryphon anymore for my body style, has anyone had any problems running there edge with a cai? I have a k&n cai with dual flows. I heard this makes it run to lean. Just checking to see if anyone has ran into any issues? Thanks again, Aaron

I'm pretty sure only the 3v motors (04+) have the lean problem with a CAI. I've read in several places that the 07-03's don't have this issue.

The lean issue is with the 2004 up 5.4, so most likely will not affect you. What you have failed to understand though is that PHP gets their hardware from Edge. So, if PHP is having a problem with the quality of the hardware, bad enough to stop selling it until it is resolved, then you can bet Edge is having the same problem. Apparently Edge is continuing to make the sale and will deal with you through customer service later.

The other thing to consider is that Edge tunes are written for the stock intake, so, your CAI is not going to do all that it would with custom tunes. My advice is to just stay in touch with PHP and when they decide it's safe to sell you a Gryphon agaian, then get it and then get custom tunes.

The 4.6L 3Vs have the same problem. It's more or less the vehicles with 3V motors and the way the MAF is set-up. Not just the 5.4L ..

Yes, good point. I was really just thinking of his engine. Thanks for the correction.

You could go with the xcal3 from php if you really want a tuner "now" and also install scan gauge xgauges to monitor your truck. Just a thought if you want something "now".
