WooooHoooo!

As you can tell by the title im pretty excited right now because my Gryphon came in yesterday! I got her installed last night and I like it a lot. I have been driving around today and im pretty impressed with the difference it made. Install was easy but i can't figure out where those little sticky things go.lol. Little help would be nice! Also when my custom tunes get here am I going to notice a difference from the canned tunes? Right now I am just running it on the canned tow tune, will it hurt my truck to run any other tune? Thanks.

-Mike

If your truck does not have a CAI on it, level 3 should not hurt. Just make sure you fill up a near empty tank with premium and give it a try. You will be even more impressed. Also, if you have 93 octane, be sure to bump the timing +1.0.

Yes, the custom tunes are even more awesome.

I do have a cold air intake. And right now I have 87 octane. What would you recommend I do until my custom tunes come in?

If it were mine, being a 2005, I would not risk running lean. I would put the factory intake back on as the canned tunes are writen for a stock intake. If that is not an option, I would just stick with level 2 as it runs a little richer than level 3. If by chance, you do hear any pinging, go back to the stock tune. Most likely you won't but there have been some that did.

Ok thanks Bluejay. I can't put the factory intake back on. This "pinging" noise, where would it be coming from if I do start to hear it?

From the top of the engine, when it is under a load.

If you are running the right octane for your custom tune, leave the timing alone, you are fine.

You need to bump the timing if you are running 93 octane and the tune is programmed for 91.

If you get custom tunes from PHP on a Gryphon, Bill can write the tunes for whatever octane you choose. You just have to tell him what you want. Also, on the canned tunes that you run till he gets the custom written, you could use 86 octane or 88 octane and adjust the Level 1 and 2 tunes accoringly. You would do a -.5 or a +.5 adjustment to timing, since it's written for 87 octane. The level 3 tune is written for 91 octane, so no adjustment necessary.
