SCT X3 93 Octane tune, only 92 octane available

As the title says I have a X3 with 87 performance, 87 economy, and 93 performance tunes. The problem is all I can find for fuel around here is 92 octane.

I was advised to reduce Global Spark by 2 to 3 degrees, and if I heard any spark knock to reduce it by another 2 degrees.

I have a printout of the options included with the tune, it has the Global Spark setting at: Min -14 Max 4

Does this sound like good advice? It makes sense to me, I just wanted to run it by some of the people with experience on these tunes.

you can run a higher octane fuel on a lower octane tune ie. 93 fuel - 92 tune and you will be ok but you can't go the reverse 92 fuel on 93 tune. If you have any doubts I'd contact the person who made the tune or is it one of the canned tunes that came with the X3?

Its a custom tune, and that was the advice I was given by the tuner. I understand how the octane thing works, but I wanted to know if reducing the spark by 3 degrees would be ok for the 1 octane rating change. I'm running it that way right now and it doesn't seem to have much of an advantage over the 87 tune, I might just run 87 as I'm very happy with that.
