gryphon set up question.

when I first load the programmer does it read my stock settings and save them? for example i'm running 3.73's with my stock tires. (04 lariat 4x4)
I'm asking because i'm not sure if I have to manually go to custom settings and input my gear ration and tire size.? I hope not I just want to plug this baby in and go!

thanks in advance guys!

It saves your stock settings in level 0, but when you load a tune, say level 2 or level 3, you have to check the gears. The program has a default setting and it may or may not be what yourtruck has. You also must change to your actual tire size. The odds of the default being what you have is slim. It only takes about 30 seconds to do all that.

thanks! I just went over to the edge sight and read there install instructions. your right seems easy and shouldnt take long. I'll make the changes for my gears and tires . Bluejay what about the wot shifts/standard shifting/shift firmness/and the rev limiter? you seem to know tons about these programmers. whats a good setting for these features? or is it best to just leave them alone?

Some trucks are a little different and people have different preferences, so some of it will be just discovering what you like as far as shifting. I like very firm shifts. You can try different settings for awhile and then that will help you decide what to tell Bill for your custom tunes.

If I were you, I would set it as follows for shifts 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4.

WOT shift points: 5000, 5000, 4800
Shift Pressure: +12, +12, +9
Max speed 110
Max rpms: 5400
WOT Fuel: 1.6
Set the gears and tires.

Thank's Bluejay!
The more I read up on this and the php forum the more I learn. I just read a thread regarding tire squish and am going to program in the 2481 mm setting for my tire size. (stock 275/65/18) per edge their calculator comes in at 2559mm with a no squish calab. I believe it was Jack that's been helping people with the tire squish calaberation?
What a great forum, we got some kind folks on here helping other members

on a side note I use to own a bmw and was a member of a bmw forum and let me tell you its like night and day with members on here compared to the forum I was on. All I can say is that this forum and the php forum has some classy/nicer members! (not that there was'nt any classy or nice people on the forum, just saying the ratio here for that is much better!)

Yes, we do. And yes, the squish is between 3% and 5% depending on the tire sidewalls.

I'm hoping my questions and Bluejay's answers will help others with the same or similar questions? I've read a thread regarding "custom settings" and the ones that Bluejay offered me seem pretty good, meaning safe and will get me the most out of my level 2 canned tune until I get my 87 performance from Bill at "PHP". I might start off with a shift firmness of +7 +7 +4 and go up or down from there? otherwise everything else looks good
I was just intending to plug the gryphon in change for my gears/tires and go, but after reading through threads on here and php i've decided to dive into "custom setting's". I know alot of people are hesitant because there not sure what there doing (including myself) but after hours/days of research I feel comfortable making these changes.

Now for the second question, lol when I recieve my custom tune do I still need to change my settings for tire/gears? I know I'm not to mess with anything else as Bill already adjusted the settings.

He will set the gears to default to whatever you tell him (but he goofed on one of my tunes, so I still have to change on my 93 Perf), just check to make sure he got it right the first time you use it. On the tires, he will set that to what you tell him as well, but I change wheels and tires so I have to reset mine most of the time. Once you get into it and comfortable with it, it's not a big deal.
