Got my FREE Gryphon from PHP - Plus Goodies

I got my reward for being Power Hungry Performance's 500th customer. Wow this thing is great! The customer service is excellent. I have spoken to both Corey and Bill on separate occasions and are nothing but nice and wonderful to deal with. This is not some payoff review but rather my impressions of a business that will be around for quite a while. I have nothing buy joyous things to say about the customer car and actual functionality of the programmer. Let's get to my initial impressions.

First, I drove around with the stock tune in and the gauges are awesome.

Next, I put in just the tranny tune (level 1) and was pretty impressed with the firmness of the shifts. To a passenger, under normal throttle they might never know the difference in the shift firmness (even though I did), but under WOT it was evident that the tranny was ready to grab the next gear and keep on going without the feeling that it was going to blow itself up. Basically what I am trying to ramble is that the firmness is tightened but not to the point where it is annoying.

Now that I was in love with level 1, it was time to feel level 2 and see what all of the hype is about. Hype, ha yeah right this thing really lives up to what people say about it. Under moderate acceleration it really felt the truck liven up. It felt lighter on its feet and really made me happy. I found a place to see what the truck could do off of the line at WOT. Sometimes upon mashing the throttle the truck would spin the tires for a second and then go and it always felt like more of a Sunday drive, no real punch in the seat and no snappy shifts. I loaded up level 2 towing tune and then punched the throttle. Man this truck seems like it would want to smoke the tires. I know the truck didn't get a magical 100RWHP but it definitely reacted better to the throttle smashing and pushed the back end down more under load than before. The tires love to spin now. I have no fear when I upgrade to 35s that I will still be happy with acceleration. That time may actually come sooner than expected with the rate that the truck sprints off of the line. Next tank will be premium to try level 3. I will also be tracking my mileage to see any benefits. I got a good control of 10,000 miles since I bought it in mid October.

Enough with boring you guys and gals, take a trip with me through my excitement and see what I saw, lol. Daytime pics to be uploaded into my gallery eventfully.

Kyle, you're way too cute. I just love that you wanted to share the experience with everyone. Thank you for that. We only encounter sales from our perspective, and it's really cool to live vicariously through you!

Your goodies should arrive today (sans t-shirt , which should be arriving soon)! I even included TWO shot glasses as someone suggested so that you can toast with a friend (I don't even know how old you are; if you're underage, don't be doin' that -- that's from Corey-the-Mom -- if you aren't, then toast away!) .

Awesome, looks like Christmas at your house, congrats

When I got my Gryphon (w/custom tunes ) I had 33 x 20's on it. Truck performed like a different truck. I only spun the tires once because of the meaty Toyo MT's (don't want to break anything).

Well I just recently got some stock size tires for my stocker wheels for winter and let me tell ya', huge difference!!!!I can spin these little doughnut tires with like no effort at all. I was like holy crap . I laid into it once and it smoked the hell out of those little things (285/65r18)

Lovin' my Gryphon

Is the pod that comes with the Gryphon a close paint match to the silver dash trim it's mounted to or did you paint it before putting it on? I was thinking all of the pods were black.

I'm sorry we couldn't find the tumblers, Kyle, but I hope you like the laptop bag we substituted. Just so you know, you'll be the only person besides us with one like it. We didn't buy them to sell. Gee, don't you feel special? As soon as we get it in, your shirt will be on its way!
