speed limiter w/ Edge question

I havent adjusted the limiter as of now, and was wondering what people have them set at, and if they have experienced any problems. (besides speeding tickets). Any drive line vibrations? U- joint failure ? I am doing alot more highway milage these days , and when conditions are right I like to put the hammer down? The cut out is presently at 100 mph.:o

what are your tires rated at?

what have you done to help the suspension?

most likely your u-joints are gonna drop if you push it over 100mph very far

when you hammer it your mileage is gonna drop, I have no speed limiter on 2 of my vehicles but then again the autobahn has no speed limit in places and I have the tires/suspension/brake mods to do it safely

The tires from the factory are rated to 112 mph, I believe.

The 255/65/17 Continentals are at least

Be prepared for some vibration at 100+

My summer tires are BF Goodrich 285/55/20/xl wich I believe are rated for at least 130 mph when properly inflated. My suspension is still stock, and too soft in my opinion. Milage is not my concern as I am currently getting around 15 mph while cruising between 80 - 100mph. Future suspension mods. are being considered. Ive been considering the Roush kit which does a 2/3 drop using new coils and leaves , a bigger sway bar, and Bilstiens all around. The package can be had for around $1100. If you know of any other kits that will compare let me know. Keep in mind mine is a 4x4.

I don't have the edge, but I have the limiter off with my Livewire. I do not know the exact limitations of the trucks, but I accidently had the truck above 120 getting on the local beltway on a downhill portion by my house at like 2am and didn't even notice. Have not tried to do it again since. It's not a race car and none of it's components are designed for those speeds and safe operation.

Here in MA. We have a 65 mph speed limit. The average speed on 495s at 4:30 PM. is about 80 mph. while cruising at 85 it is not uncommon to be passed by faster moving vehicles. including State police. They use alot of unmarked Ford vehicles, including SUV's. so keep alert. Im aware of the consequences. My driving record is a statement to that.

Like I said it was like 2am. It is a downhill onramp. I was headed in to the hospital for a STAT call in. Actually, when the truck is WOT, if you stay in it doesn't even shift to 4th until 95+.

I have only had it that high a few times after getting my tunes and while doing some datalogging. When it was over 120 that was a one times thing. No more....

performance dyno, concord NH

Yeah , Ive heard of them. I know a guy with a lightning who uses them. They sell the SCT Tuners there with a Dyno tune for an additional $49.00 $569 for the Livewire. Im looking into it. But am still thinking of converting to a PHP Gryphon. with Bills tunes. Which way to go ?
