You have a couple choices for programmers, but several for tuners (the people actually doing the tuning).

One of the popular programmer platforms is the SCT X-Cal and can be tuned by Justin Starkey at VMP, Mike Troyer at Troyer Performance, or a few others.

We offer the Gryphon programmer which we can also be custom tuned. It's a little bit more expensive, but has the added benefit of being a dash mounted device that also provides diagnostic functions and gauges. If the dash mount doesn't interest you and would rather save a couple bucks, then you can't go wrong with the X-Cal.

Hope this helps.

What about a edge or superchip programmer?

The FlashPaq and Edge are good if you're looking for standard tuning and don't plan to modify the vehicle. I'm not very familiar with the FlashPaq so I can't offer any advice as to what the capabilities are.

Just so you're aware, the Edge and the Gryphon are the same unit with the exception of the tuning and the Gryphon has the ability to be custom tuned if you should need it. If you're planning on a Cold Air Intake or other modifications, you'll really want something that can be custom tuned.

Take care.

The only mods I plan to do is a suspension lift with bigger tires and gear swap.

I recommend Justin at VMP with the XCal3, but whatever you decide on make sure you get custom tuning(gryphon, xcal3). It really makes a difference over the cracker-jack canned tunes that come with the rest.

I also have and recommend the XCal 3 custom tuned by Justin at VMP.
I had very large noticable power gains and also better mileage in my 4.6 reg cab, even though that is just a bonus.

my .02
