variable Cams

I have an 05 f150 with a 5.4l. I was wondering if any tuners mess with the variable cams in any way?

I havent looked into a whole lot, but I believe VCT is more mechanical then anything else. I havent looked up on how it works on the fords to give you a straight anwser, however I doubt they would do much of anything with the VCT on just a tune.
