Just Recieved new VMP Tune!

I am loading the tune into the programmer as I write this!

A little background- I ordered tunes from another tuner last December, and let's just say that I wasn't thrilled with the results. I was not happy at all with the shifting, especially the 1-2. The truck seemed to be even more sluggish than before, if that was even possible. So, I tried all of the different tunes I had ordered, but ended up removing them and going back to stock. I happened onto a thread and found that some others had experienced the same situation as I had, and spoke highly of Justin's tunes, so I decided to take one last shot at custom tuning.

I will load them up and get back to you all with an update. Have my fingers crossed!

Yup, you'll love em for sure. Just loaded my 87 perf tune two days ago and love it. The shifting is firm and confident. Just don't mash it off the line unless you want to have fun with some wheel spin. I have 33" tires and I have to be careful off the line or it'll sit there and spin the tires good I call that a positive. Also took about 1.5 - 2 seconds off my 0-60. I was somewhere around 10 seconds before with my larger tires, after a new CAI, exhaust, and the tunes I'm somewhere in the low 8 second range and that was with some wheel spin off the line. (rough measurement with a stopwatch...yeah, not accurate but an indicator of some improvement for sure).

Basically, after uploading the tune all of my trucks prior bad habbits are now gone.

small hiccup -- truck won't run with the new tunes. Starts, but immediately stalls. I have a call and an email into Justin. Just a little more wait, I guess. Someone once told me that patience is a virtue.

Yup, same thing happened to me. My truck wouldn't start with the first tunes.

Just email him following his instructions supplying your strategy code from the tuner and he'll get back to you quickly. Only took one day for me. It happens sometimes.

Sure wish I could say the same, it's been almost 2 months and he has yet to get me fixed up.

Have you been in communication with Justin at all? I'm surprised, he took care of my tune issue in under 24 hours just this week.

Yes I had been in communication with him. I finally got my readjusted tunes today though. I've loaded my new 92 performance tune onto the Xcal II and really looking forward to loading it onto the truck and going for a drive with the new tune tomorrow.

The new tune was lean? Or was it your old tune that was lean and that's what you had him readjust?

Ok so I couldn't wait. I loaded the readjusted VMP 92 performance tune onto the truck and took it out on the highway for a ride. Much, much improved. I no longer have that bogged down feeling when the trucks hits about 45 mph. I am very happy with the feel of the new tune.

That's good to hear. I really need to get my truck to a dyno and find out what I'm pushing with the Troyer & VMP tunes. Maybe I'll give 3 dyno pulls to myself for Christmas.

Update -

After some problems getting the tune loaded, got everything straight with Justin, and loaded the 87 performance tune today. I have to say that I am very happy thus far after one day. Shifts are just about perfect, more power, and much more available. Add me to the list of satisfied VMP customers! . I never thought that the old tunes were done right, and am very happy to have taken the chance with VMP. I really believe the best way to objectively review these upgrades is after a few months or so, so I will try and keep updated.
