As many of you know, I put a 1998 5.4 in place of my 4.6 in my 1998 Expedition 4X4. Using EVERYTHING from the 4.6, including the PCM and tune the computer compensated and makes the 5.4 run well, but not best. In order to make your new 5.4 run like a 5.4, you have to get an aftermarket Chip if you stick with your 4.6 PCM.


I went with a Diablosport tuning chip cause that is what my dealer runs and swears by. I had them flash the chip with all perameters from a regualr stock 5.4. I installed the chip but my truck would not fire. It set PATS off and no boom boom. Well. . . Diablosport does have the software to get around a certain security code in the 97-98 4.6 4X4's. My dealer is now taking all of my formats from my PCM, sending them to Diablosport where they are going to create the software need for my PCM to work with the chip. This has been a big run-around for me, but hopefully in the end it will pay off.

I should have the truck back in a few days, I will keep you all updated on whats going on. . .


and yea, I know, "should have gotten the 5.4 PCM"- well go fawk off, it was mated to an E4OD and would of made things even more complicated:santa:

 

PATS on those trucks can be a real pain in the hiney when trying to work around what you've got. I hope they can get you straightened out and running quickly.
