Dyno tuning

I was considering taking my truck to a dyno shop call New England Dyno. There located in Douglas Ma. It seems like a better option than buying tunes from remote tuners like Troyer, or VMP. Why don't more truck owners consider this option? It seems rarely talked about!

Cause Troyer have over 16 years on tuning f150's thats why so many people go to him.

plus time. Takes me all of five seconds to download new tunes. Takes a good chunk of your day to go down to a dyno shop, get your numbers, and start tweaking with it. IMO, dyno is a much better option, but also a much harder option. You need the cash, the time, and the shop nearby (not everyone has a reputable dyno shop near). I know I do, and have used them for a few things, but to get a full tune, it would be almost double what i paid for the Gryphon, and maybe a few more ponies would be squeezed out. To some people, its just not worth it. Troyer, VMP, and PHP all regularly deal with F150's, so i feel pretty good in letting any of them tune my truck.

I need to call the dyno shop and get pricing. I had a feeling the cost was going to be a big factor. I'll let you guys know what I decide. It's nice to have as many options as possible

rcaddell - Your friend does the tuning, and NE Dyno provides the use of their dyno?

He has a long standing relationship with the owner of New England Dyno. He does not do all the tuning for NE Dyno, just uses the dyno. With my 08 and the 04 he bought his GF, F150 tunes will be in the works soon enough.

Here is a video of a car he built at his shop. It is a Gen IV Taurus with a Gen III SHO motor (Ford never made one) This video was filmed at NE Dyno

Here is a video from a Dyno Day we had with the club (also filmed at NE Dyno). This was before I got the F150. I was in my 05 S60R. The Duramax is owned by my friend.

Trust me... tuners like Mike, Justin, and Bill have spent thousands of hours dyno tuning. They know what they're doing. They don't need to put your truck on a dyno to tune it properly. I can't blame you, though, for wanting the dyno tune. It IS pretty cool.

If they know what they are doing, its a great option.

There are a lot of shops out there that have dynos but don't specialize in tuning.

Modular powerhouse in GA tuned my old supercharged mach-1 for $400. N/A was less than $300 if I remember right.
Prices are real cheap when they do a dyno day!

Now that i think of It I might give them a call myself
