Need a little convincing..

I am almost to the point of buying a programmer with custom tunes, but I need some convincing. I drive my truck everyday and steady, normal acceleration seems to fall off the table around ~35, 40 mph.

Basically, I just want to know are the raw power gains that noticeable? I am more concerned about there being a difference in daily driving, not just at WOT. I know the shifting will be firmer and that's definitely a plus, but mainly I'm just looking for quicker, easier acceleration. It feels like it revs too high while accelerating normally and that maybe the torque converter is slipping more than necessary.

So are custom tunes really going to give me that extra kick I'm looking for? I have read countless threads in this section and just can't convince myself that there's THAT big of a difference. I always talk myself out of it somehow.

Thoughts?

My truck is a daily driver and I have alomst 47,000 miles on it using the Edge, and then the Gryphon tunes. I would not want to go back to stock. Just no way. Not only is the power nice, but the improved shifting and downshifting is awesome. I seldom go WOT.

Thanks for the replies guys. It just seems like a lot of the reviews I've read about custom tunes are based on how fast the truck is at WOT, or what the 0-60 is like. Keep the opinions coming, I really appreciate them.

I just got my Gryphon put in tonight. In fact, I just came back from a drive. I don't have my custom tunes yet but these canned tunes are awesome. There is definitely a difference at normal driving RPM's. I usually keep mine around 2000 accelerating around town. This is so much better. Like you, I seldom go WOT but I did tonight. Passing people now is so much funner. I definitely recommend a Gryphon and some custom tunes.

I am running SCT and I too would never go back to stock. The truck just runs better, especiall just putting around town WOT is too don't get me wrong, but it is a great improvement no matter what.

Thanks guys. These are the kind of answers I've been looking for. I think some custom tunes may be a nice early Christmas present for myself
