PHP My Space
I'm sure Corey will get around to the MySpace, if she hasn't already. However, I gotta tell ya that "Blast from the Past" blew my hair back like a Maxell commercial. (See how many people know what THAT means!) It got me to thinking about my vehicular tromps, trysts, and troubles. I may have to swipe your theme and do my own, but I'll be sure to give you credit.
BTW... For what it's worth, American Graffiti is one of my absolute FAVORITE flicks. I find myself longing for the days when you could "cruise" the boulevard for no particular reason at all. Even while growing up in Miami, I had to watch the Ft. Lauderdale Strip slowly get eaten away be law enforcement and irate hotel owners until they completely redesigned and rerouted all the traffic to make cruising all but impossible. Ahhh... but there were a few good years there for me and my friends.
Take care.

As far as the "Maxell commercial" comment, let's just say I had a Dolby/Metal switch on my radio...
BTW, I'll email you the code for that layout if you want it. It took me forever to find it.

As for the other, send it when you can.

It wasn't that long ago. I can distinctly remember days not too long passed, when the price of gas was reasonable, that boys & girls used to cruise the boulevard and flirt from passing vehicles. Memories of days gone by bring back long drives without any destination in mind, and finding destinations off the beaten path.
Today? I try not to drive and to take public transportation so that I'm not getting robbed at the pump as often. It used to be that boys modified their cars to go as fast as possible. Today? Custom Tuners are writing "economy" tunes!
How do you flirt with a girl passing on another bus?
Flirt? What's that in today's world? You can't do that anymore. Not even give a compliment. In today's "politically correct" world, any attention is considered harassment.
And why is it that you can not compliment women's features anymore? If a girl has a great smile, then why is it that she gets so upset whenever I say, "you have a real pretty mouth"?
I wish I could move. I would move backwards in time. Back to a time when life was simple. When The Beach Boys with Pendleton shirts sang songs about cars & girls.
I want to live in the 50's.
Back in the 50's, all housewives had those tattoos on their lower back! That being said....
Back when I was a kid, they didn't have stuff like synthetic oil. All that we had was old fashioned dinosaur juice, pop rocks, and 7-Up. Does having Brady Bunch & CHiPs flashbacks make me old? Sometimes it feels like I'm suffering Post Traumatic Stress from all that Disco.
I would almost bet on the fact that The Beaver's mom had one of those "road map to paradise" tattoos pointing to her ***. Perhaps even some sort of Asian character writing also. Asian newsprint always looks authentic on girls who aren't Asian.
But yeah, I do long for a simpler life in a simpler time - pre Jimmy Carter. That was before the price of gas became sky high. An entire family was supported on one salary. You could support a family and own a home on one salary. A guy could support his family, own a home, and have two cars in the driveway on one salary. Back then, you could have a wife and a mistress, fool around with your secretary, and even have your secretary pick out little gifts for your wife and your mistress.
Nowadays, you need a single salary just to fill up the family car so you can go to work. Forget cruising.
I, like you, wish it were possible to go back to (what appears to have been) a simpler time. I try to be careful about feeling nostalgic. Since I didn't live through those years, I can't say if it was really a better time, but things sure did look simpler then.
I remember growing up that there wasn't a problem in the world that couldn't be solved with a full tank of gas and long drive. Now the problem is figuring out how to pay for a full tank.
Ah well. Let's just hope it doesn't get any worse.
