Edge wont update...error msg
Hello, just got my edge for my 03 f150 5.4L. When I connect it to my computer it says "The requested FTP command is not supported when using HTTP proxy. What kinda computer language **** does that mean. Im running vista if that matters.
Did you check your manual and see what it says about Vista? I think they have some instructions.

If you're using the old Lightning version to update your unit, the base communication between the software and the update server was FTP (File Transfer Protocol). Some folks have had issues with this as some Virus Protection software blocks that particular Internet Port (or doorway, if you will). If you are running your internet through a proxy server (which it sounds like) then FTP might not be able to redirect through that server.
If you are using Fusion, then I can't say for sure what the deal is because I never worked on that project. As I understand it, Fusion should be straight HTTP (what your web browser uses) so it is compatible with nearly any computer unless it has the internet blocked off.
If you can tell me which software you're running, I can try to help you out further. I just need to know which direction to look in.
Take care.

I'd be willing to bet that there is some sort of FTP block or something related to your internet connection that is preventing the software from hitting Edge's update server. If worse comes to worse, they can actually e-mail an update file that could then be loaded in by the software.
However, I'd like to mention that if the unit is functioning properly I would leave it well enough alone. Up to you, though.

Depends on the current firmware and calibration version of your unit. It's most likely an update to add a few unsupported calibrations which probably wouldn't affect you. If the programmer is working, I'd leave it alone.
Take care.
