Using 4 low with a tuner
Using 4 low with a tuner
How does your truck drive in 4 low with the tunes? For me, my truck is hard to control the throttle when I need to use 4 low. I found this out when I was trying to back a trailer in my in-laws yard. I was using low range because I didn't want to mess up their yard. When I put my truck in reverse and lightly pushed on the accelerator the truck leaped back on me and it was like I had floored it, but I didn't. I did this again after I got the trailer unhooked to see how it shifts and it's crazy... I know it's geared low and shifts quicker but I don't feel like I have any control on the pedal with the tunes. With out the tunes it drives a lot better in low range.
Is this normal? If so 4 low is useless with tunes

Using 4low to NOT mess up the yard ??? Thats a little backwards. 4lo gives you more bite, allowing tires to dig in a "grab" the ground. If your on grass, this gives it a chance to grab the ground and tear it up.
Other then that, sounds like 4lo is working just the way it should. You are using the gearing in your t-case to multiply your torque. By goin to 4 low, you now have more "power" and more "neck breaking potential" . I barely give it any gas in 4lo, and my truck will do the same.

I'm not liken this about these tunes. Can anything be done to help? Since I have the 3.5" intake I'm not thinking I can return the stock programming without reinstalling the stock intake.

Because of the gearing in 4-lo and the power of a tuned 5.4, it just takes off when you hit the gas.
You are correct, if you want stock tuning then you need the stock intake. Otherwise that 3.5" AF1 will lean out your truck badly. Maybe try using 4hi for higher gearing?
If your not wanting to tear up their yard I would be using 2Hi or 4Hi if you need a little more traction.
Like MercedesTech said, in 4Lo, with all torque multiplication, the power your pushing, and these trucks having a somewhat touchy pedal even before they are tuned (even more so after a tune), I wouldnt expect anything less when you put yours in 4low.
Low gearing in low, bigger power, and it looks like you have stock sized tires?? It SHOULD jump off the line in Low.

4 lo is for high torque situations, if it's too much then use 4 hi ir let it idle in 4lo, when I use 4 Low it's only when I'm climbing or tuggin something way too heavy

I also have a steep hill in my yard that I like to back up every now and then... it sucks now because I really liked being able to walk up it slowly without feeling like I'm gonna blow my engine up.
In this situation, I really like the way it was before the tunes
Interesting, maybe why I never noticed it with the other tuners. If this is correct I wonder if something can be adjusted to correct this.
