edge/ new engine noises

so i got the edge evolution the other week. all good, easy to install, worked well for some quick power without doing any custom programming. now when i pull away or hit the throttle i hear some sort of clunking noise for the first bit, goes away right away. now could this be a coicidence and my u-joints are going? or did something already get screwed up. haha i take it pretty easy with the chip because the first few goes the second or third shift is really heavy and i havnt had any time to do a custom tune or anytihng, any tips? 2004 f150 4x4 thanks, anything helps

Obviously, the first thing to do is program back to stock and see if the noise goes away. On some calibrations there have been a few complaints that the "canned" programs are a bit aggressive on the shifts.

Couple questions... What level(s) did you try? What is the HEX code of the calibration? How many miles on the truck? Can you pinpoint the location of the noise? (Rear, center, front, etc.)

Let me know and we'll try to get it figured out.

Take care.

what level of programming are you using. Maybe need to upgrade octane. Run 93 not 87.

Uh, what performance level did you choose? Just "worked well for some quick power without doing any custom programming" really doesn't help. Sounds like you slapped in the performance level and didn't bother to run premium gas, so the "clunking" noise you're hearing is pre-ignition (detonation). Fill it up with premium or go back to one of the lower levels.

He probably blew the engine since he never replied to the first questions.
