Gryphon Owners

How does everyone like theirs? How does everyone like their custom tunes. I have a 04 F150 with a 6" lift on 35s and was looking into some programmers. Ive heard all about troyer and vmp but is the gryphon just as good? I love how the gryphon looks exactly like the edge with the display model. I know you can get the scanguage if you get troyer or vmp but if the gryphon with custom tunes is just as good i would rather get that. So just like to hear what people think about it with their custom tunes

I wouldn't run anything else. Really enjoy the gauges and Bill's tunes are great.

Id say get the gryphon straight from PHP, ive got the EDGE and have driven my friends gryphon w/ custom tunes and even though the canned level 3 is awesome the custom 87 performance felt just as good I could only imagine the custom 93 performance

P.S.- War Damn Eagle

I kept the canned towing tune as I tow very little and it was adequate. I have the 87 Perf and 93 Perf. I am running the 87 most of the time.

i wouldnt use a 93 tune. im 87 all the way

so would i still feel some power and extra mpgs if i got a 87 performance tune? or would i only get some mpgs if i got the 87 economy tune?

Youll get extra MPG's no matter what tune you get over stock

I think it depends on what you were getting with the stock tune. I had very good gas mileage already, so I really did not get any increase. Mileage stayed the same but performance was like night and day. If economy is a major factor, I think you might should consider an economy tune.

Why don't you want to use 93 octane? It's pretty much a wash for the price since you'll get better mileage, not to mention even more power.

I'd be willing to bet, keeping driving styles the same, you'd see a mileage increase with any type of tune, especially a custom tune.

its not a major factor i just wanted to know that if i got the performance tune then it would at least increase my mpgs a little bit. Anything is better than my 11.5 right now . and i saw that the gryphon comes with 3 free tunes so i think i would get the 87 performance, economy, and im not sure about the last one because i dont do anytowing.

Any tuner who is selling a custom tuned Xcal2 is going to include three custom tunes in the price. For example Justin with VMP Tuning charges $395 for a Xcal2 with 3 custom tunes.

I've always thought it was worth the money. Like I said, I did the math and it came out to be nearly a wash for the increase of mileage. Factor in the added performance and it's a no brainer for me ..

Yeah but i also need a display model so if you factor in the scanguage price (like 160) it becomes $550. and the gryphon is only $495

You are correct if you have an engine tuned for 87 and run 93. It is a waste. However, if your engine is tuned for 93, then it can more than pay for itselfwith better mileage. That is unless you're like me and have to "feel the power" too much.
