EDGE Evolution ??

I have an '07 F-150 S.Crew 6½ box with 6" lift and 35's on 20" rims. I tow an aluminum trailer every 3-4 weeks from Vancouver, Canada to Portland, Oregon. The trailer is 24' and weighs 'bout 1500-1600Lbs. I've heard good things about the Edge Evolition programmer. I have AFE CAI, throttle body spacer and dual exhaust. Is Edge the way to go to increase mileage and performance when towing. Also when I plug in programmer will it calibrate for my larger tires...which I aven't done yet?? Thanks in advance for info!!

Don't do it!!!
make sure to buy a custom tuner! with your intake and TB mods the edge evo will most possibly cause problems.
I won't recomend any one over the other due to my lack of experience but I am using powerhungryperformance.com custom tune for my intake and so far so good!
but on the other hand I've heard good things about the Xcal 2&3 with either TP or VMP tunes.
IMO you cannot go wrong with any of these three custom tuners!!!

Call around. Talk to the guys who write these "custom" tunes. Then decide who would be best for you. Everyone on this board has a favorite. But that's just like buying sneakers; everyone has a favorite, but there is no way to prove that one is better than all the others.

I agree completely. The "shoe" I like the best is the Xcal2 or Xcal3 programmer tuned by VMPTuning.com.

Aw, c'mon... no checkered Vans (a-la Jeff Spicolli)? And of course no closet would be complete without at least 1 pair of Converse Hi-Tops, usually in orange, blue, green or red (sorry, I don't do pink...).

Seriously though, the Evolution may experience issues with your CAI kit so you'll definitely want to go with something customizable. The Gryphon is our private version of the Evolution (same hardware). It comes included with 3 custom tuned files which we can design to handle your specific modifications and fuel requirements.

As the other guys mentioned, you may also look into the XCal which is also able to support custom tuning.

Have a great week.

Edge Evo!!

Now looking at Superchip for tuner...Seems to do what I am looking for, by their specs. Checked Edge website and there is a testimonial where someone has CAI and exhaust and said he had no problems?? Does anyone have input on Superchip...Need some help...Lots of guys on here talk about Xcal, etc...but can't seem to find that tuner up here. Thanx in advance

One more time, for the best results proven over and over, with the CAI you want a custom tune. You call and discuss, then order the Gryphon from PHP or you discuss and order the Xcal2 from VMP. It's easy and simple. You just need to decide if the gauges built into the Gryphon are important to you or if you want the Xcal2 with no gauges.

I don't understand. There are many Candians on this site that have purchased the Gryphon from www.powerhungryperformance.com and many that have purchased the Xcal2 from either VMP or Troyer. The reason you won't get a lot of feedback on the Superchip is that not many run it. It's kind of like wanting a Lightning and selling for a Ranger.

Do some reasearch on PHP. Bill is as close asyour email and your phone. You will get no better customer service from anyone. All three of these guys have proven themselves.

One other note, Bill has already tried to assist you, he is ASEMechanic. He owns PHP. I assumed you knew that, but not sure now.

I hate to clue you in, but if you use Google, or any popular search engine, you can go directly to the manufacturer's websites and read all that you want to know. Power Hungry Performance, VMP Tuning, Troyer Performance..... They all do have websites you know. So does Hypertech, Jet Chips, Superchips, SCT, DiabloSport, Edge Products, et cetera.

Or you can just ask somebody what they think, then go with their opinion, without doing any independent research of your own.
