Xcal 3 and towing

I have the Xcal 3 with TP tunes and a 3" AF1 CAI in an 07 SCREW 5.4L FX4. I tow a trailer that is about 5000lbs or so. Does anyone know why or experienced any problems with their torque converter locking and unlocking while in tow tune(while towing of course)? I find the tow tune is not great. I find I use more fuel and have less power, and have the torque converter issues. I like the performance tunes, but the only rerason I bought these items is to get some gains while towing. I found that I had better results with the Evo or even while stock. I have been in touch with Troyer for help but I an curious to see if anyone else has experienced similar results. And if anyone has some advice to help us trouble shoot I would appreciate that too.
Thanks.

Does the truck happen to have a lift and big tires on it?

The truck has the stock wheels and tires and no lift. This happens wether or not OD is turned on. It seems like it shifts back and forth between the 2 gears before OD. If I leave it in OD it rarely gets there anyway except going down a hill. If I watch the Tach the RPM's seem to flutter back and forth about 500rpm or so while on level ground while maintaining a constant speed. It also seems like I have to keep giving it more throttle to maintain a speed. Mike has been off sick so I have only talked to Crystal.

Mike needs to revise your tunes. I have a lifted CC lariat running 35's AF1 3-inch and have none of the issues you're having and tow the same amount or heavier. If my truck won't fairly easily accelerate in OD then the load is too much for it imo and I'll lock out OD. If you're getting shifty between 2/3 towing 5k then something is definitely wrong unless your pulling steep grades. Plus something has to be wrong anyway as it should blow stock away, especially under 3-4k rpm. Get Mike to revise the tunes. Ask him to give you a really stubborn torque converter. A liked the tc behavior on my '98 better than '07 until I got tunes. Tell Mike you want it to stay locked as much as possible.

Thanks for your advice. I'll try to get a hold of Mike once he is feeling better. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.
