Post 4.2 Programmer

I have a 4.2 5spd manual F150 with K&N, and Throttle Spacer, and I'm deciding between a Gibson Exhaust with maybe H pipes or a programmer? The thing is i don't know much about programmers out there for a 4.2 V6 and if its beneficial for me to spend that much money when i have a stick, in other words, will it make a big difference on a stick as it would on an automatic. Since i will be spending about the same amount of money on either i just want to get more info before i make my purchase, any info would be awesome, thanks!

I have a 4.2L V6 w/ Mike Troyer's tunes delivered via a SCT X3 Power Flash.

I'm happy.

is your an auto? i have an 01 4.2, and i want to get a programmer with a tune, so i can eliminate my speed and rev limiter to get all the HP i can from my truck. i was only able to hit 154 rwhp because of the speed limiter, and that sux! or would i be better off just buying the programmer and having it tuned by a local shop that specializes in Fords??

My truck is the 2007 model year and came with the automatic transmission. If you have a local speed shop, with a dyno, is able to do custom tuning, and is also known to specialize in the F150 trucks; then you should head over there. Actually, being in Arlington, you are close enough that you could drive over to Troyer's in Covington, VA.

Troyer Performance specializes in F150’s, and has for over a decade. It’s the real deal
