well i found a great deal on an xcal 2. 150 for it i should have known better. to begin with the model is 9415a. he claimed it wasnt locked but when i plug it in to pc it says locked. i pretty much have a paper weight now

 

How do you know its locked? What does the status on the device say?

 

the status on the device says aftermarket.what does that mean

 

That means it is locked, sorry. The device will show locked in the program untill you use the PC to unlock it (if the STAT=STOCK). VMP offers store credit for locked devices, www.VMPTuning.com .

Any reputable tuner will be able to utilize the device -- of course, you may have to go with their individual flavor of tuning.

Lots of good choices out there but, I think you should look beyond the simple text that some write and do your research before you float on the boat.

Best of luck to you getting the device unlocked and your tuning wishes answered (btw, if it was a paypal transaction, you may have some recourse via the buyer protection policies).

thought VMP / Troyer offered unlocks for what, $50? Thought i rememberd hearing that, check out their sites. If you got it from ebay and payed w/ paypal, dispute it, get your money back. If it says unlocked, you win.

 

VMP can unlock it for I believe $75.

 

Have you tried just contacting the seller? Its likely they set the truck back to stock and thought that would do it, without going into Live Load to unlock it.

 

yeah i did and he still claims he never used it. I got shafted thats pretty much it ....i got a good paper weight now lol. Plus i have tried live load and it isnt allowing me to unlock it. How much could i sell this for with it being locked

ok quick question guys....as you have read i got shafted on and xcal2.......
and about a month ago i order a stage one kit from troyer. i have two trucks an 06 4.6 and and 08 limited. I was trying to get a prgorammer for both but it hasnt worked out the way i wanted. Im leaning towards the sniper tuning that way i can tune both of my trucks and have one tuner and at the same time save some money. When i bought the stage 1 kit it came with an xcal 3 and three custom tunes. I havnt sent my work sheet in there for i am thinking of selling the xcal 3 and the three tunes. what would be a good price guys.

and another thing troyer does not unlock tuners that arent returned to stock.....
and i havent been able to get ahold of vmp

 

anyone have any ideas?
