"?"

To answer every question I can think of and get the ball rolling on this:

My order # is 2098
My name is Matthew S. Cooper (and the order was charged to this name)
My truck is a 2006 F150, 5.4L, 4x4 with 3.55 gears and 35x12.50-R17 tires (600 revs per mile)
I ordered on February 6, 2008
I have an Xcal3
I ordered an 87 octane economy tune, 91 octane towing, and a 91 octane performance tune.

I have only received the 91 octane towing tune. The towing tune works nicely, and I am eager to try out the other tunes. When the other tunes are ready you have my email address. If you need further information it would be much better to call me.

My phone number is (XXX) XXX-XXXX
Matthew S. Cooper
I just sent you this email Justin. Hopefully we can resolve any issues with the order and be underway. If you have any further questions, I provided my cell phone number in the email (with out the X's).

As for the 91 octane towing tune:
I must say that the tune has performed flawlessly and with out so much as a hiccup. I towed a 6,000 pound travel trailer the day after installing the tune, and when all was said and done had clocked 626 miles on with the tune and trailer.
Fuel economy with the trailer was slightly better than it has been in the past, but power and control while towing it was greatly improved. Obviously there is more power available, but the way the power is delivered is what makes this tune special: In the lower RPM range power feels similar to stock but with vastly improved throttle response and control; the mid RPM range seems to have the greatest power increase and continues to provide outstanding throttle control; the upper RPM range also seems to have more power than stock and feels way smoother in its power delivery. The transmission shifts a lot better than stock. The best I can decribe it is that the shifts are smooth and deliberate. What I mean to say is that the shifts do no have any slip or lag to them like they did stock, but are not harsh like a shift-kit. The torque converter locks up nicely at cruising speeds never seemed to unlock unless the throttle was fed in heavily. Having the converter locked up makes for a towing sensation very similar in nature to towing with a manual transmission (which I have always enjoyed), and allows you to feel much more of what is going on.
I have driven about 400 miles with out the trailer as well, and the truck feels so much nicer to drive. It feels like a different truck, and my fuel economy has improved by 1.5mpg. I wish I had ordered this sooner.

Conclusion:
After installing the tune, I have not thought about it since. It is a real testament to quality when you can set-it-and-forget-it so to speak. I am glad that I purchsed my Xcal 3 and tuning from you, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Was it worth the wait? Yes.

How long did it take you to get your tune? Sounds like your happy other than you're still waiting for those other tunes.

PS: Check your PMs.

I received the Xcal 3 within 2 weeks of ordering, and the 91 octane towing tune last Tuesday. I have been very pleased with the tune so far.

I PM'd you a response.

I do, and I have used it to talk to Justin as well as leave messages for him when he is unavailable. I used the X's to block out my number from the members of this forum that might get bored at 3:00am some night.

Hi Tom, thanks for the positive feedback on the tune.

Regarding your emails to me, there are several things that will help with timely and effective communication (this goes for anyone that is trying to contact VMP). First, it helps to use an email address with your full name on it, not a screen name or spouse's name. When I have a full name I can more easily reference it to your tune files. I can look things up, but the emails that contain complete information and don't require a 5 minute search through my 3 GB Outlook file get answered first. Secondly, whenever sending an email it is a requirement to quote the previous email you sent to me. I deal with so many people each day, that I can not remember every email I've sent out. There is a line in my signature that says "To ensure prompt service please quote the previous email in your reply." Some email clients/programs can be set to quote the previous email automatically, others like AOL may require you to hi-light the contents of the first message before hitting the reply button. VMP does have a phone number that is published on our website, business cards, and marketing materials. That number is forwarded to my personal cell phone, so I can answer it when I am driving, running errands, sitting in a vehicle tuning it, or when I am otherwise out of the office. Since I often take calls on my cell phone I am not always able to handle requests that would require me to be in front of a computer like taking a phone order, sending a new tune file, or looking up an order. I will often direct the customer to send me an email or visit my website in these cases. I am the only one at VMP to answer the phone, make tune files, ship orders, etc, I basically do all of the day to day work myself. I am not always able to answer the phone, if you leave a message I will respond to the request as quickly as possible though.

I did receive the email you sent me on Saturday night with complete information regarding your tune request, I had just gotten back from a dyno-day 60 miles from here where we ran 18 cars during the show. I am trying to take a break today. I have jury duty tomorrow. I will get to your request within 24hrs though.

Thanks,
Justin Starkey

No worries Justin.

I understand that you are a busy guy, and I wanted to quote the email to show other members that you do respond to them.

Yeah, my email address is my SN on most sites rather than my actual name. To make matters worse it displays my Mom's name for some reason (and I can't seem to chage that ).

To anybody sitting on the fence with tuning: Do it! VMP is the way to go.

-Matthew

Update: I received the rest of my tunes today (as promised ) and they are fantabulous!

I have the 91 octane performance tune installed on my truck at the moment, and let me tell you, it is amazing. I never thought a 6,000 pound beast with a lift, tires and stock gears could move like this. I'll do a full write-up as soon as I have clocked 1,000 miles with this tune. After 25 miles I am more than thrilled with it, but once the newness wears off I'll let you know.

Thank-you Justin. I wish I lived close enough to shake your hand and buy you a drink (if you are into that sort of thing... it doesn't have to be alcohol, just a gesture to express my appreciation).

I think giving him about $400 just about covers it.

Just wanted to give a big thanks to Justin. I sent him my tune request last Thursday and mailed my payment in that day also. I checked my e-mail today (Tuesday) and there they were, my tunes are already here!!!

If Anyone is thinking about getting tunes from him, I would really recommend him. I haven't installed them yet, I am waiting for my intake to arrive. But from what I hear, I don't think I'll be disappointed. Plus, his response time is great.

Thanks Justin,
Andy

Well, it seems as though VMP Tuning is starting to catch on, and is growing quite a bit here in the F150 world.

I have about 8,000 on my VMP Tune's, and so far they are still kickin it hard!!

All of you with the VMP Tunes, make sure and add it to your Sig's!! I like reading post, and scrolling down and seeing that "VMP Tuned"

Like a BrotherHood! LOL
