Got Custom Tunes.......now shifting funny

I recently got a Xcal3 with custom tunes for my 07 F-150. I installed the 87 driver tune custom tune. I know for a day or so the computer has to relearn and adapt to the new tuning. But it has been a couple of weeks and the trans still shifts weird.

When I let off the gas and slow down, and then resume on the pedal, the trans seems to bog down and lose all power for a couple of seconds and I have to mash on the gas to get it to shift down to accel.......also when I get on the throttle, the trans acts like it stays in 2nd way too long before it shifts into 3rd and the same for 3rd to 4th.

Is there a way to see where he has my shift points set? I checked the WOT redline and he has it at 5175 rpms, by what I have read, that is low.

Do I need to scrap the tunes and get ones from Troyer or VMP or maybe a dyno tune, I have a SCT dealer about 20 miles from me?

Thanks the help guys!
Andy

Who did the tuning? Sounds like a problem with bad tuning.

I don't think you could go wrong with getting some custom tunes from VMP Tuning or TP ...

I would really be nervous about running someone's tunes unless they had a proven history with these trucks.

did u have multiple tunes or just one cuz it sounds like you might be running a fuel savor economy programming or someone screwed the “TPS” throttle position sensor value

I'd rather not mention the name (on the off chance there is nothing wrong and this is just my imagination) however they do have a proven tuning history on mustangs! He supposedly has done research on the new Ford trucks and dyno tuned some of them with good results....

I have three tunes, I do mostly day to day driving in town, so he did an 87 tune based on that(one which I had installed). I also have an 87 towing tune and 93 performance tune.

I tried the 93 performance today, I was waiting to fill up with 93. It seems to shift OK now and doesn't seem to have the lag anymore. Do you suppose there may be a problem with the tune I had previously installed? Maybe that one is just not tuned correctly.

Well since you're not going to mention the name of the tuner, did you bring this problem to his attention? Most tuners would love to fix the problem.

Yeah, I did at first...........he said that it was probably the adaptive learning on the computer compensating for the tune.

I had asked him what were the details of the modifications that he had done, i.e. shift points, rev limits, etc. He was kind of vauge, he mentioned the 5175 rpm on rev limit, but really didn't go into any more detail than that.

I e-mailed him again a few days later and asked him the same question again, this time I asked him if he could e-mail me some details, he e-mailed me back and still didn't give me any details.........shouldn't a tuner at least give you an idea of the limits or details of what he has tuned?

Anyway, thats why I am just going to get some more tunes by someone who I know people have had sucess with.....

Give VMP a shot, it's $50 per tune so it's hard to lose.

Yeah, I think thats what I'm going to do. I just finished looking over VMP's website, I think I will give him a call soon. For now, I think I will just download back to stock tune, just to make sure nothing goes wrong......

That's what I would do.
