Dyno Day

Taking my truck to a local shop on the 29th to get some baseline dyno numbers. The truck is bone stock right now but I have mods planned for the next few months and I just want to see how much I gain once they are on.

I'll post the results.
I estimate about 145-150rwhp on a motor with 238000 Kms on it.

I wouldn't waste your money on a dyno.
That is like dynoing my lawn mower.

i would go to the dragstrip.

great way to get a baseline, it is a blast and cheaper than a dyno. don't forget to weigh your truck while you are there.

there are formulas that will estimate power from both et and mph. this way you will see real world improvement that you make.

anyone that tell you that you are to slow for the track, dosent represent 99% of the people there. everyone started somewhere.

Already taken it to the track last year. Even finished 2nd in a bracket class race. I've seen those formulas and based on my times and weight its about 147rwhp. I don't think its a waste of money to get some accurate numbers. At least I'm not buying a TB spacer..THATS a waste of money.

Ok dyno day results.

Best numbers were on the last pull.

173.8 rwhp 226.7 rwtq not bad for a tired v6.

Speed limiter kicked in a 112 mph.

I tried scanning the print out but my scanner is toast, just shows a totally black image.
I took some pics with the digi cam but the numbers are hard to read.
I'm going to get a friend with a good scanner to scan it for me.

After talking with them for awhile I think I'll put the turbo idea on hold until I get a new motor or rebuild this one. They didnt recommend putting one on a motor as old as mine. they kinda hinted that a SIDO exhaust would give me better numbers that true duels. The tuner Alec said that if I go with a turbo I would only need 1 cat and no muffler just a resonater since the turbo would act as a muffler.

Anyway they seem impressed with the Hp from a tired stock v6.

I was gonna say that those numbers are awful close to a stock 97 F150 4.6L for RWHP (which we dynoed at about 185HP) but I didn't want to burst anyone's bubble.

That graph is horrible. They need some better dyno software or something.

97XL, if those are valid numbers then congratulations. I think you're gona get called out on this one, though.

I have a 97 with a 4.6 and put down 172rwhp and 230rwtq with a catback and cia. That was in 2nd gear though due to the fact that i still had my speed limiter and it would kick in at 4000rpm in third. That is one hell of a stock 4.2 or i have one ill 4.6.
Here is the dyno graph.

Well until I get a dyno that says different I'm sticking with these numbers. I have no idea what kind of S/W they were using or how old/new it is. I just posted the numbers I got. As for getting called out..if someone thinks I'm BSing thats their opinion I just felt like showing the numbers I got from the dyno. Its not like I'm bragging "Oooo look how fast my truck is" or anything like that but I guess no matter how many dyno pulls I get or which S/W they run there's probably always going to be someone who is going to doubt the numbers.
