I installed the Edge Evo EEF2400 on my wife's '07 King Ranch F150 5.4L 3V. I chose to program the level 3 tune. I was just kinda wondering what everyone else is using and if you made a custom tune, what changes you made egi. fuel spark, shift firmness, rev limiter etc. Her truck has a Series 40 Flowmaster muffler with the dual side exit pipes "Roush-like exhaust" and an AirRaid cold air intake kit. We always use 93 octane gas. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

 

Your truck has a good chance of running lean with your setup. Although there are exceptions, the stock tunes in the Evolution usually don't play nice with CAI-equipped trucks. I would recommend getting a custom tune form Bill Cohron. He goes by ASEMechanic here on this forum, and he wrote the F150 calibration files for the Evolution. There's a chance you could run VERY HOT without a custom tune.

I doubt you are going to run lean. On my truck I have the edge tune with an AIRRAID Cold Air Intake. There is nothing but unburnt fuel in my exhaust system. I am actually going to take my intake off because I am so tired of hearing the drone, and there are no performance gains.

I have never hit above 206 degree engine coolant temperature here in Texas on the hottest days.

I have read many of the post that ASEMechanic has provided us with, and the evolution is a pretty safe canned tuner. I am almost positive this is why they only let you change certain parameters by around five percent.

Let me know if you have any questions:do a search for edge custom tunes. There is a huge thread with people posting their different parameters they have set.

Johnie - read this post and decide for yourself. Just because cwbpro69 didn't notice a problem doesn't mean that you won't, and a custom tune is not a major investment. The worst that can happen is improved performance (and peace of mind).

It is definitely better safe than sorry. You can and will run lean under some conditions on these trucks with the CAI. I am just saying from experience with my 04 with the Edge Evo, Exhaust, and Airraid CAI I have not noticed any lean conditions, mainly a little rich especially with cold engine temps. I am no expert by any means though!

I have no clue who can custom tune the edge, although I am interested in finding out cause I would like to pull every bit of power and efficiency out of the truck possible.

ok I called Bill at PHP but to no avail...twice. I even tried some of the setups in yalls signatures if it was close to my setup on my truck, and that didnt work. Any other options for getting a custom tune rather than having to trade my Evo in and go a completely different route? I dont know if my problem is lean or rich but with my setup, it debilitates the truck completely til I put it back to stock.
07 F150 4.6L, Flowmaster Delta 40 muffler and K&N Intake are the only mods. Throws error codes in every canned tune.

 

Did you buy it new? I would make Edge replace it if you did. Something is wrong with it.

 

yup, bought it brand new from discountpowerparts.com. the evo is now under my rear tire...waiting to put it in gear.

 

I would think that Edge would replace it. They have a pretty good record of standing behind the product.

 

I even kept it updated on the internet through the software provided. It took the updates with no problem. The device itself works fine. The display works and all other parameters of the programmer function just fine. Its only the tunes that dont work. Would a custom tune even fix the problem? Or is the programmer just part of a bad batch or something...

 

If the program is corrupted, then I would think a custom tune would fix it, as it replaces the canned program.
