New to tuners Xcal3

Im a newb to the tuner world, sorry if this a dumb question..when you want to go to another tune is it a good idea to return to stock first or not. To put the question a little clearer I will be replacing a custom tune with another custom tune (adding equipment)

If it makes you feel better then I would return to stock. You don't have to change back to stock going from one custom tune to another on mine so I would think yours would be the same.

Always return to stock.

I do not know this, but the folk at Troyer told me do so if I wanted to keep my stock tune. Who knows, someday you may need it.

I always thought that the stock tune was saved to the tuner and stored the first time it is used. That is why it is much shorter time to change between tunes. I have changed from 87 octane tune to 91 octane tune with no problems on my X-Cal2. I think you should call the person you got the tunes from and make sure. Let us know what you are told.

Are you changing from canned tunes to custom tunes in the tuner?? That might make a difference. Better be safe and go back to stock.

Mike at Troyers told me i can go from one tune to the next without returning it back to stock. Say 87 perf to 94 perf without going to stock first.

This is what I thought was correct.

I was wrong, once the stock tune has been downloaded to the Xcal, you can switch from custom tune to custom tune (87 perf, to towing, to 91 perf) I believe what they (Troyer had said) was to put the stock tune back on in replacing the canned, and then put the custom tune on. Anywho, I was confused. Not the first time.

You are not the first one to be confused, I am confused most of the time!

Correct as long as you're loading the "new" tune from the same device. The stock tune will be saved on the unit regardless what tune you're loading.
