Edge Problems (ASEMechanic)

I was on the original Edge BETA team. I have a 2001 supercrew. I updated my Edge with the Lightning software around 1-10-08. This was to allow me to correct my tire size. After the update my edge "reboots" on start up, and the screen stays on even after the key is off. I have to unplug the unit after shutdown to keep it from running my battery dead. It also took about 10 times of plugging and unplugging the unit to allow me to change to level 2. It's like it would loose power after it told me to turn the key off then back on, which would cause it to abort the level change. I've heard that the lighting software is on it's way out, so I didn't want to mess with checking for a new update. Is there anything new out there to correct this, or do you know what the issue might be? Again it was working perfectly before the the update to allow me to change the tire size.

If you can...

What version did you have before? (Sticker on the bottom/back of the unit)
What version do you have now? (Go to Main Menu, Diagnostics, Version Info)

I've not heard about this before, but it is possible that it is related specifically to the latest update.

Let me know.

Depending on where in KY you are from, we are having a meet in Lexington Feb16th. Check out the Regional and Events forums.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I do not have any stickers or numbers on my unit. The only thing on my unit is my name that they put on it with a permanent marker when I sent it back during the beta period. My version info is as follows:
Boot- 1.00b
Prod- E4.07.08
Firmware- 07
Hex File- RWAI2F3.HEX

Thank you so much.

Casey

Casey,

It sounds like you may have to have that unit replaced. I don't think the firmware is compatible with the very early version BETA units.

I'll check with Edge and see what I can get for you.

By replaced you mean buy another one? I hope that's not the case. I was happy with it other than not being able to change the tire size before the update. Thanks so much for your help, you definitely help the sales for Edge on this board.

I emailed Edge concerning the difference between the Lightning and Fusion software and was told that the newer units with a solid number such as "Version 14" use the Fusion software and units with numbers such as '1.23.33.03' use the Lightning software. Hope this helps you.

I don't have your number. Can you send it to me via PM, or on here?

I just wanted to thank Bill for helping me get my Edge replaced. He went out of his way to help me get into contact with Edge for a replacement unit. Thanks again Bill for helping another Edge user!
