MPG with Troyer tuners/intake
MPG with Troyer tuners/intake
What are you guys getting MPG wise with these mods on an 04-08 F-150?
My dad has an 04 F150 with crappy old superchip tuner and air-raid. It gets about 15.5mpg city and 17.5-18.5mpg highway...
Troyer tunes and AF1 intake do any better?

I'd say that's pretty damn good. I mostly get 14.5-14.8 mixed driving. Cruising on the highway at around 80 I get high 15's typically.
Mods are:
Xcal3 performance tune
2.5" exhaust
3.5" AF1
4.10 gears
OEM 20's <----- probably lost 1/2 per gallon with these
Honestly, before I had the intake and Troyer tune I just had Edge on level 3. I got better fuel mileage with Edge than I do with Troyer but I'm making more power with Troyer. Some say it's due to crappier fuel but I don't know.
I avg. 17.2 driving around the same speeds as I do now driving to Atlanta for Thanksgiving. 16.5 coming back.
Then I added AF1 and Troyer perf. when I got home. Drove to Gatlingburg and back at New Years and didn't avg. better than 15.8

Just put my tunes on last week along with the 3.5" AF1 to go along with the magnaflow exhaust. I'm running the 93 Perf tune and am getting right around 13mpg (I DON'T drive like a grandma
). I was hoping to do better, but heck, I'm driving a great big truck shaped like a brick and I kind of expect the cruddy mileage.
First day I put the tunes on I wasn't overly impressed--pleased, but not knock-my-socks-off wowed. Now that I've been running the tunes for a week, the more I am growing to love them. It is SO nice to hit the accelerator and get up and go. Do I wish I got better MPG? Who doesn't? But it sures beats driving some 4-cylinder rice burner car just so I can save $1k in gas every year. My truck is worth every extra penny in gas I put in it and that's why I drive it.

P.S. Right now I'm running the stock wheels/tires (275/65/18) for the winter, and once I put the bigger BFG's back on, I expect my MPG to drop a little bit more.
