$$$$ Best Price for EVO $$$$

I've finally deceided, I'm going with the EVO. My question is where did you buy yours and how much. While I've been searching and reading all the gazillion threads on this topic I also found people paying different prices.

So what did you pay and where?

I got mine from http://discountpowerparts.com/catalo...&products_id=7 over a year ago. They have it now for $399.20 with Free 2nd day shipping.

Hope this helps.

The Edge used to be so much of a better value and I could see why people would pick it over the Xcal2 but now it just doesn't make any sense. Sure the gauges are nice but you don't really need them and if you want them bad enough get a ScanGauge. Custom tuning is leaps and bounds ahead of any canned tuner. Trust me, I had an Edge and had to get an Xcal2 to be happy.

When you got your Edge what were your initial thoughts? Honestly

When I got it, I thought it was nice. But than I started having horrible driveability problems among other weird qwerks in the programming. I'm not the only one who had problems, either. Since Edge sold themselves out, the customer service is really lacking as well .. like I said since it's $400, you can buy a Xcal2 for that and have a custom tune for $50 more. Not to mention you can use it for a TON of Ford vehicles if you ever get a new car/truck.

WOW the prices now sound really high on the EVO. When I purchased mine from discountpowerparts.com like 1 1/2 years ago it was only like 325 shipped... And also edge has really good customer service. My edge display just stopped working one day like a year after i had bought it... I called in and stated my problem, and they just had me send mine in, and they sent me a brand new edge no questions asked! They not only sent the unit, but the cord, dash mount and everything down to the wire ties and all! I was very impressed by this! Now I have an extra pod if i decide to paint later and i can switch if i dont like it...

I did a search for "edge" and "settings" and read 3/4 of them and yes there were a lot of threads related to runabilty problems but a lot of positive also. I guess I'll to the same search for the xcal and see what I get out of that. I do appreciate your input. Thanks

I have loved my EDGE from day one. I have been running it on Level III for the past 12-18 months and no issues at all. I am satisfied with the canned tunes as well, since it allows you to tweak them to your liking.

Secondly, I love having the display in the truck so I can monitor coolant temp, trans temp, oil temp, or many more if I choose to do so. The gauge gave me peace of mind when I towed a 5000lb trailer from California to Missouri in late 2006 as well.

There was an issue with the transmission vibration when decelerating, but EDGE has fixed that issue with their latest software update.

Hope this helps, but the bottom line is that the EDGE is a great product. However, everyone has their own opinion and there are always people who will pro/con every tuner/programmer out there. For the money the EDGE provides a kick in the pants for your truck as well as a great monitor and dash pod.

Thanks Scmidtty.

Who else offers the gauge pod setup. That is a pretty cool feature.

I guess if you're set on having gauges, you could get the Livewire which allow you to be able to run custom tuning which would be the best of both worlds.
