Should I mail order tune from TP or get a local Dyno Tune?

I purchased an XCal II about a year ago from TP for my 02 4.6L Screw. I have since installed a 2003 Lightning motor. I was wondering if I should have TP send me an updated tune, or should I go to a local tuner who can dyno tune the setup? My Local Tuner being Patrick at PSI Motorsports in Houston.

I was very happy with my Troyer tune but I've only heard good things about PSI and Patrick's work. He has tuned some very fast trucks for HALO.
If I still lived in Houston, I would probably go there.

I feel the same way about both. I wonder if the XCal is locked by Troyer Performance? I just know how to load the tunes into the PCM, but I don't know how to create new tunes. I guess any tuner could program some new tunes into my XCal, correct?

when i got rid of my troyer tunes i went to vmp tuning. i was able to erase my xcal2 with software from sctflash website. it was easy. being as you are supercharged i would say yes an inhouse dyno tune is going to be better as they will have the truck right there.

I'd do the dyno tune first. If you want a mail order tune, give VMP Tuning a shot they do great work and have great customer service. The owner used to work for SCT, too. Troyer is pretty good too.

Stop cross posting, it's getting childish. Keep that stuff in that thread and try to answer some questions instead of trying to ruin people's threads. Thanks.

A dyno tune is the best hands down. That is if you can get someone in your area that has some experience.

mike nailed my mail order tune with the 4lb lower. when i went to a dyno day at his shop just took one pull and found a/f was dead on. i love mikes tunes but if i was that close to psi and hearing all the good about his shop, id let psi tune it.
