Do I have to get custom tunes ?

This is the question I asked of sales support of Hypertech.

"If I've added a CAI and magnaflow aftercat exhaust will the programmer know the correct A/F settings?"

Here was their reply:
" The Power Tuning 87 or 91 octane settings the Programmer offers are designed around a stock vehicle. Both settings install our air/fuel ratio and timing curve we found best for a stock vehicle. There is no problem when using a cat back exhaust and/or replacement high flow air filter. The CAI systems usually lean the engine out too much to be used with our tuning resulting in ping/detonation. We do not have tuning for CAI systems for this application. We do for the Must GT and may add this tuning to other application as time passes. Thanks"

So, I guess, I cannot use a Hypertech if I have added any of the Mods i have done, Do you think that's true with most programmers ? Is custom tunes the only way to go?

:Since you are in Florida. I'd call Justin @ VMP tuning and have him do a dyno tune. He is located just north of Orlando. It won't get any better than that.

ordering a custom tune is your best bet since you don't want to run lean

the only time you'd have an issue is if you have a larger than 3 1/4 inch intake tubing.

Ordering a custom tune isn't a bad thing. But getting it dyno tuned in person at either VMP or Troyer would be the best. Since he is in florida I suggested VMP.

Justin at VMP has availale spots on Jan. 10th for dyno tunes. Thats a lot better than waiting 10 weeks for a mail order tune from Troyer.
