I have a 2000 5.4L F150, saw a couple of these Hypertech tuners on ebay for about a $100 and wondered if anybody has tried them??

I would be weary of buying a used programmer off of ebay because you have no way of knowing if the unit is still VIN locked.

This is true. But if you can confirm that it is not VIN Locked, you can save a bunch of cash. It's a gamble like anything else but check the sellers feedback and pay with paypal if possible.

I bought a used EDGE off of Ebay for $184... Not bad considering they are $350+ brand new.

As far as usage goes, once the tunes are loaded into your vehicle, the programmer really isn't used (depending on the programmer and it's functions). So, in my case (and I'm not saying this is true for everything, especially because I don't have any experience with Hypertech) the EDGE was used once by the seller to load the tune, and once to unload it when he put it up for sale. It's as good as new and I have never had any issues. Just my .02...

Just bought a new Superchips tuner on ebay from Mustangs Unlimited for $219.00 delivered. I've seen them at other places for around $379-399. I was just looking to firm up my shifts and change the speedo for bigger tires, also didn't want to spend $500 on tunes at this time.
