127 mpg speed limiter?

I was getting my truck dynoed and the gent said that he would remove the 127 mph speed limiter. I said "huh?" I didn't know the speed limiter was that high, but he hit 127 on the dyno. He had a dynojet with the 1500 lb drum in the floor and his speed gauge said the rear wheel was spinning at 127 mph. Too bad the truck cant do that on the hwy under its own weight. Guess all this time my truck just ran out of breath at 100 mph.

Does the Xcal 2 and Edge show what the speed limiter is from the factory?

Argh!! edit, title should have been mph speed limiter. I only wished I was hitting a 127 mpg limit. Sorry.

I actually thought the limiter was set at about 97 or so for our trucks.. Not sure what crack your dyno guy's smokin'...

You'd have to have some nice rubber to be doing 127 in a 5,000 lb + truck without gettin' killed.. LOL

Oh, and I believe both Edge and Troyer, most all tuners, remove the limiter... it's up to your judgement how fast to take the thing..

LOL did he tune your vehicle or just dyno it?

I might get a little laugh out of this thread.

No crack involved. I said it was on a 1500 lb floor drum, not the actual weight of the truck. He hit 127 mph, I saw it on his read out, plus the rpm's were about 5000 while in 3rd. I am running 3.55 gears. It is a lot easier to rotate a 1500 lb drum than it is to move 5500 lbs of truck.

Our N/A trucks will not do 127 mph. Not unless you get some F/I setup installed and tuned, or find a way to lower the overall weight down to a ridiculous low. You also have to remember that on a dyno in a garage that there is no wind drag. I am speaking of a theoretical max that cant be achieved under current design constraints.

My question wasn't can the Edge and Xcal2 remove the speed limiter, but rather do those handheld devices actually tell you WHAT the speed limiter is set to from the factory?

Jack the rear of your truck up so the rear tires are in the air, crank and put your truck in gear, get a digital readout of the mph, and let her fly. Tell me what yours stop at.

My truck stock was set at 99, but I bumped it up to 200 just in case some vette wants to play

The stock speed limit is 99mph.

There is a mph to exit neutral speed limiter which is set at 127mph (our trucks do not use this).

Your 'tuner' sounds more like a 'tooner' to me.

Guys, I was right there and saw it. My needle Speedometer maxed out at 100, but even I could tell the rear wheels kept increasing not only by drum whine noise or exhaust but also by rpm on the tachometer. Again, this is NOT what the truck can do on its own.

Just what is this "exit neutral speed limiter" that you mentioned?

LOL, setting it to 200 and actually reaching it are two different things.

Mine was dynoed in 3rd, how about yours? My pre-tuned run was 211 RWHP and 275 RWTQ. I gained 4HP and 34 ft. lbs of TQ.

Your tune really shifted your peak TQ rpm, I hit mine right around 2500 which is where the factory TQ max was at(350 ft lbs @ 2500 rpms)

3rd-i went to troyer tunes-i didn't have numbers from it but under worse conditions the best time i had from diaclo chip-i knocked 7/10ths off that tune with troyer's tuner-i noticed troyers shifts were crisper without the harshness of the diablo's-phil
