what is the whole concept of level 1, right now i am on level 3 with 93octane in it if i put it on level 1 will i get better gas mileage since it doesnt give me any more horsepower or what

As the manual states, Level 1 is a TRANSMISSION ONLY program. It is designed to help improve the shift structure in situations where you would not want modifications to the engine parameters. This could include running low grade fuel or situations where the engine has been modified beyond the tunability of the unit (ie. forced induction).

So to be clear, there are no engine modifications on level 1 so there should be no change in fuel economy.
