Hi. No - check yer owner's manual - each model year appears slightly different - it should be the one in the under-hood dist box labelled as 'fuel pump' in the manual. Maxi ( 20 amp).

If you don't have an Owner Guide, you can download one from here: http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdi...&menuIndex1=18

EDIT - ok, had a look at the 1998 guide - position #19 - Fuel Pump Relay - 20 amp (page 140 in the guide)

From what I've seen most times you can get away with not pulling fuses. However most times when someone is having trouble programming, simply pulling a certain fuse can remedy the problem. The reason behind this is things like a fuel pump or satellite radio may activate and cause a drop in voltage large enough to interrupt the tuning process.

On a pre-04 trucks, there have been some cases of the fuel pump/injectors activating during the tuning process, which caused some spillage directly into the cylinders. Not common, but enough of a concern that SCT, Superchips, etc, put that boilerplate text into their documentation - more of a 'better safe-than -sorry' CYA thing. On the 04+'s this isn't a concern - different PCM architecture.

Apart from all of that - a fully charged battery and elimination of any non-essential loads by pulling fuses (eg. amps, lights, fans etc) is a very good practice to follow - you need to ensure that supply rail has adequate voltage - flashing is a relatively demanding process.
