Please help a newbie out.....

OK, so I tried the whole Hypertech Max Energy thing and decided it wasn't for me. I want custom tunes! So, I ordered the Livewire from Troyer with custom tunes. They are going to ship me the canned Livewire now and will e-mail me my custom tunes later. I got an e-mail with all of the paperwork and must say, I am confused as hell. Can someone explain to me exactly what I'm supposed to do? Will I be able to fill all of this out on my own or do I need to go to a dyno shop?

Perhaps I should clarify. I don't do data logging until after I receive the custom tunes, correct? So, all I do now is fill out the 4 page form and send it in? Then I get the tunes, and then data log? Sorry for the confusion.

I can't help you out much b/c I already had an XCal when I ordered Troyer's tunes but all I did was give him the trucks computer code and then the strategy code read via the XCal plus everything else in that 4 page homework thing. It only looks confusing and like a pain at first, it's really nothing. I did not datalog and Mike's tunes are sick (yes sick as in good)! I may datalog sometime and tweak them but not yet. FYI take some time and really fill out those sheets completely and accurately and in comments give Mike as much info as you can and let him know exactly what you want out of your tunes. I wrote him a book and the guy spent almost an hour talking to me on the phone about every detail I wrote before he did my tunes. He really does read that stuff and will talk about it with you before sending the tunes.

Hopefully MGDFan or someone will jump on and help you out but it shouldn't be much more than plugging that thing into your truck and reading the strategy code. Then just writing the trucks computer code which is found on the passengers side firewall.

Thanks a lot for the help. It did seem pretty intimidating (I'm a CPA and I hated seeing that sample spreadsheet! ). Luckily my truck is brand new so there isn't much to write about. The four page homework was pretty simple once I started going through it but I thought I was going to have to datalog upfront as well. I feel much better now.
